Typhoon Sendong

Saaad. My heart cries out to those who have lost their loved ones brought by the typhoon Sendong (Washi) that devastated Mindanao last week. To date, the flash floods have killed more than 1,000 people and left more than 40,000 homeless. Soo heartbreaking.

The President already ordered to investigate if illegal logging aggravated the damages.  Obviously, yes. The affected areas has been cleared by illegal logging so the soil wasn’t able to contain the immense rain, the flooding went down the mountains swiping the homes and villages nearby. Let’s do our part in saving our planet – plant more trees, reduce/reuse/recycle whatever you can, promote a “paperless office” (instead of printing piles of documents, let’s utilize the technology and use document imaging software), use renewable energy, conserve water etc. We can help in various ways!

I hope no more tragedies like this will happen again. Let’s work together and try to live in a way that doesn’t hurt our environment.

Updated: Oathtaking Schedule and Venues for LET September 2011

Here’s an update!

Finally, I was able to contact PRC and wowwww, they’re not very helpful at all. I initially contacted (632) 736-8018 last week and the lady referred me to call this num 736-2252. I tried calling several times everyday and finally got my luck this morning @8AM.

Here’s the Oathtaking Schedule for LET PASSERS SEPTEMBER 2011 (for Metro Manila residents):

December 14, Wednesday, morning.
You may get the ticket at Don Lorenzana Bldg. Rm. 600A, in front of the PRC building.

He did not specify the time because HE WAS NOT BEING HELPFUL. I asked him where I can get the info since it’s not posted on their website and again, he was not friendly and helpful. He told me “hindi ko alam, hindi ko naman trabaho yun”

WOWWWW. How very professional! To think they’re even working at PRC! Totoo talagang our government employees are one of the worsts in this world. Ang iinit ng ulo ke aga-aga.

I will try to get more info about the oathtaking schedule and venues in regional offices. Will update you guys if I search anything.

What an Awesome Serprise! Look What I Got For Christmas!!!

My new Samsung Galaxy SII

Look what I got from our kris kringle last Saturday…brand new and spanking Samsung Galaxy SII!!! I can go to heaven happy now. Really thank you!!!

Nyahahah, I wish! This is too good to be true! I only got the box, inside was a tiny envelope with some cash – bec that’s what I wrote in my wishlist, either cash (700P) or Samsung SII.

Anyway,  I was shouting and hyperventilating when I received it. I was really really excited. Everyone in the office knew how much I wanted to get this SII more than anything else. They were all watching as I unbox it then boom!!! Walang phone hahahha. Although at the back of my mind I knew already it wasn’t an SII, I still felt happy and excited. Never knew a box can get me so hyper hahahha. I knew it was Joseph who picked me. I saw it. Also, I had seen the gift prior to the party so I knew right away that he is giving me 700P.  I am such a spoiler, I know! That Friday, he told me someone’s asking daw if I am willing to pay the excess hahaha, I said, NO bec really, what I am demanding is too much for any one to bear. OMG this phone is at 31K selling price when our kris kringle is only about 700P.

Anyway, I appreciated the effort – the box and all. It would have been great kung totoo but it’s ok, I’ll get you soon, in one way or another, just wait!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Good News and Bad News

Here’s some very good news! My electric bill amazingly dropped about 1000P after we gave up the old fridge (it actually died on us a few weeks back).

Now the bad news, I don’t buy groceries anymore and cook as often as I want to. As a result, a lot of the food I eat is canned and instant noodles since they’re more convenient for my situation now.

Last week I devoured on various kinds of canned goods – tuna, corned beef, sausage – baked mac, lucky me noodles and other ramen.

I am now feeling the effects. I feel weaker. And since the food I ate have no fiber at all , I am also getting problems with my VM. I promised myself to live a healthy lifestyle now that I am older but I keep failing at it. Ahhh I don’t like this feeling. I get paranoid. I need to consult a doctor. Do you know anyone with Family or General Practitioner Jobs? I need a family doctor who can educate me about my health and lifestyle issues. I want to be healthier – physically, mentally, psychologically, emotionally, and spiritually – so I can live longer.

How To Download Running Man Episodes From Youtube

I honestly don’t know how to survive a day without youtube! As soon as I get online, I open youtube right away and spend many hours watching Japanese pranks, funny korean shows and many other interesting stuff.

Recently, Ruthie and I are both addicted to watching a Korean variety show called RUNNINGMAN on youtube. The show is hilarious even if it’s in Korean. Most videos posted there are clear with very good subtitles. I am now in the process of downloading all 70 episodes (click the link to know how to download videos from youtube) so I can re-watch them. If you’re too bored with your life and in need of a good laugh, I suggest you watch this show and you’ll be glad you did.

How To Protect Yourself From Electronic Pickpockets

One of the many things I like about HK is their OCTOPUS CARD. It’s a small piece of card, ATM size, that you can use anywhere in HK – can be used on all forms of public transport (MTR trains, Airport Express, buses, Star Ferry, Peak Tram , as well as convenience stores, McDonald’s, KFC and many other stores).

There are no long lines and queeing anywhere in HK. I was totally impressed! It’ll be awesome if we can adapt that same system here in the Philippines. Imagine living in a cashless society. I really really like the idea. Convenient and efficient. The only prob I can see is issues of electronic pickpocketing may arise.

Octopus card uses RFID technology – same with credit cards and ATM cards, E-pass etc. These days, E-pickpockets can buy cheap RFID reader (similar to barcode scanners), sit next to you and steal your ATM cards and credit cards without you even knowing it. Ah, the downside of technology. While I agree that these advances can improve our lives, some of these inventions, could also be used to harm us.

There are also other forms of e-pickpocketing, esp in Paypal and email. Last year, I received a money request from someone I don’t know asking for 100$. I’m sure you also  have received a dozen emails telling you that you won $$$$$ and needs your bank info so they could send the money. So how to protect yourself from becoming the next victim of electronic pickpockets? Simple, just take extra care, manage your finances and use your common sense all the time.

Where to buy a Sony Vaio Laptop Adapter Charger?

What the helllllllll!!! My phone and laptop chargers both died on me this week! Looks like someone is out to sabotage my social life!!! LOL

sony vaio adapter VGP-AC19V19

I honestly don’t know how to survive without my laptop and internet connection. My life depends so much on them! I feel sometimes that I value my laptop more than anything else, charot. Haaay I have a feeling that this true story is going to give me a lot of headache. So this morning, I called Sony Gateway Branch 9113910 to inquire if they sell an AC Adapter VGP-AC19V19 for FW series Sony VAIO, she referred me to Sony Megamall 6383767,  the lady told me to contact Sony Service Center 3301111, finally, after waiting for a few mins, I got to talk to Manilyn, she told me to go straight to the nearest service center.

Luckily, there’s one in Cubao. Here’s the address:

Metro Lane Complex
P. Tuazon St. cor. 20th Ave.
Cubao Quezon City
Servicing Hours: 09:00AM – 07:00PM (Mon-Sat) / 09:00AM – 06:00PM (Sun)

I have to drop by there to order and pay the down payment which is half of the price. Might take 5-7 days, at most 2 weeks since they need to order it abroad. Ok, I can deal with that. Now here comes the stressing part: (possibly one of the biggest stresses I encountered this year)

It’s price range is between 8,000 – 10,000.

What the helllllllll! What the hellllll talaga! That adapter VGP-AC19V19 is 8K??? Freaking 8000 for just an adapter!!! I can buy a house and lot with that money (haha ang OA). Haaaayyy so the plan to buy my new Samsung SII is going to be set aside for now.

These info aren’t readily available esp. in my barrio where newspaper and internet are OUT OF REACH! My mother had to give me a list of our neighbors who took the exam so I can relay the good and bad news soon as the results were released. Right now, they’re all going gaga because some says the oathtaking will take place tomorrow. Excited much!? Eh my SIL is preggy, she can’t be possibly travelling back and forth and back for the oathtaking and registration.

I will update you with the venue and schedule once the info is available. Right now, it’s still TBA. I don’t know why it’s taking a while.

Becoming Dutiful

I like it that women these days are independent, educated, well-traveled and more adventurous. Yes to women empowerment! The only problem is that some men can’t handle relationships when their girlfriends are smarter and probably earning more than they do. Most men likes it when women becomes dutiful and serves them, right? This is perhaps the reason why we see a lot of women right now staying single even when they reach 30s.

Are you a dutiful gf who likes to do stuff for your bf? Who never forgets to plan a surprise event for your boyfriend’s birthday ? Who cooks him breakfast, lunch and dinner, cleans his house, buys the grocery and does all the laundry? By golly, that is sooo 18th century! Sooner or later, you will grow tired doing all those stuff and will eventually decide to break up.

I think, another key for a long lasting relationship, aside from loving and respecting one another, is becoming dutiful of each other. I am capable of doing all crazy things for love, as long as my partner makes an effort to reciprocate, and by that, I don’t mean that he needs to wash my clothes too (well, he can always send them to laundry services, right?) or clean my apartment, but he could treat me to a nice dinner instead or send me flowers or send me to/from work, carry my bag, massage my back and feet, cheer me up with corny jokes, those tiny things that could sure melt one’s heart. He could also pay my house rent, credit card or buy me a smartphone and iPad to make me really really happy HAHAHA.
