Youtube Feature: Chivalry Is Dead – Trevor Wesley (KAYE CAL Acoustic Cover)

Chivalry Is Dead – Trevor Wesley (KAYE CAL Acoustic Cover)

One of my favorite youtube singers – Kaye Cal! Oh my! I love this version. Repeat 100X! I’m jealous! I wish I can play the guitar like this. Maybe if I practice harder, I’ll get better too, anyway it’s in our blood! My father and all my siblings knows how to play the guitar very well. They’re so good esp. our oldest brother and youngest sister – they know how to play by ear! While me? I’m tone deaf, and knows only the basic like D-A-G-A chords and nothing else. Their forte is acoustic, haven’t seen them play electric guitar, not even once. I wonder how Inday (our youngest) is gonna react if I buy her an esp ltd at guitarcenter.com? Good idea! It’s not her style but I guess she’s gonna like it.

Birthday Post for My Sister

Dear Inday,

Happy birthday dearest baby sister! I can’t believe you’re now 15 years old, how time flies! I am both happy and sad for the person that you’ve become. Sad because you’ve grown so fast! You’re no longer able to be that cute kid who’s always brought laughter and happiness to us all. I wish you’d never grown up, Inday. I wish you’re not hardheaded and you’ll always listen to mother when she asks you to do this and that.

I am happy to see you growing up strong, street smart and talented. I admire your willingness to learn new things. Amazing to see how you’ve taken so much after our father! I know how much you like getting a new guitar, there’s a beginner guitar available at Musicians Friend, I’ll see if I can get one for you.

I wish you a good life ahead, Inday. I love you always! My only request is for you to honor mother for as long as you live.

Lovelots,

T’malen

Old Vinyls Are Making a Comeback

They’re coming back! My uncle’s family used to own a vintage turntable and quite a collection of vinyl records back in the days. From Beatles to Frank Sinatra to Carpenters, there’s just a lot! My cousins and I would would put vinyl record on the turntable and spin the platter using our hands and it would play music! Amazing! Now I wonder where those vinyl records are. Couldn’t find them anywhere in my uncle’s house, perhaps they were sold to antique shops or worse, thrown out! It would have been nice to have them as a collection. With the technology nowadays, you can play old vinyls using project debut carbon, you can also easily record them into a computer!

Wishlist for 2017

Taking videos is the best way of keeping memories alive.

I love taking videos whenever I have a chance. To date, I have over 700 videos uploaded on my Youtube channel. They’re not professionally produced, okay. Most of them are random videos of my family – dancing, eating and singing together! I wonder how those famous youtube stars can create awesome videos? Maybe a high quality camera, pro audio video software like avid mbox, a MAC computer and talent? This 2017, I hope I can create better videos. Not planning to be professional but it’s frustrating looking at my videos with very low quality, shaky and with incorrect orientation. I guess I need an iPhone next year. Ciao!

You Have To Do The Best With What God Gave You

My favorite Forrest Gump soundtrack cover using acoustic guitar, mandola and rogue mandolin

You have to do the best with what God gave you.

Absolutely my favorite line from the Forrest Gump movie! I am a strong believer in the concept of destiny. I am where I am today because God destined me to be here. He allowed me to experience failures so that I may fully grasp what it means to succeed. All I have to do is to keep believing that my life is bound for greater things and be a better person day after day. I don’t care how long it would take and how many more failures and heartaches and rejections I would face. I just know that I can overcome all of it.

Work like you don’t need the money. Love like you’ve never been hurt. Dance like nobody’s watching. – Satchel Paige

I changed a lot eversince my father went to heaven. I could say that for the most part, the changes are doing me good. It used to be money before anything else and ME-FIRST before anyone else. But gone are the days when I used to live and breathe money. Gone are the days when I build walls so nobody can just come into my life and hurt me. I was always very defensive and sarcastic (well I still am sarcastic, it’s inborn haha). And I was always so shy it limits me from doing crazy things. Look where it got me…nowhere.

I am surprised because the paycheck I am getting now is sooooo much lesser from what I was getting before, but I am okay with it because I have a very fulfilling job! I am allowed to do what I want to do like enroll in a Culinary School, take Masters degree and go home in my barrio once in a while for as long as they don’t interfere with my everyday tasks. I have the best boss and the best team!

My heart is okay as well. I still have fears but I finally understand what courage means. I am inspired – to live and move by no other rule than the law of love.

UPDATE

Hayy! Sayang! Nahuli ng submission hahaha, para kay Pepe and Pilar in Pasig sana to eh.

Tuesday Thoughts # 1

Politics:
Supporting our President no matter what! Reliance on Foreign Aids leave us with a beggar’s mentality. I am not saying Foreign Aid is a bad thing, it never is and never will be, and I truly appreciate the countries who have helped us during tragedies but I hope Filipinos begin to realize that we are more than just a recipient of aid.

Let’s all change the way we see ourselves. Let’s all take pride in being Filipinos!

Work:
Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life. Relate na relate ako dito. I thank all the powers in this Universe who conspired to make it possible for me to experience fulfillment in my career. I don’t have much but I have everything!

Life:
Whatever is hurtful to you, do not do to any other person. Planggana!

I hope you are happy and well wherever you are.
