Conquering Pico de Loro

I haven’t been blogging lately because something terrible just happened. This blog has finally succumbed to the powers of the evil high and mighty Gingganggoolee. For a few days, I lost my focus, drive and motivation. Zero ang PR!!! Waaaaahh huhuhuhu.

But this post is not about Gingganggoolee…eto talaga ang highlight:

3 days 2 nights of non-stop adventure with my fellow outdoor enthusiasts. My first ever beachineering experience.

Actually, this post has been long overdue…in fact, 5 years late na ang post na to hahaha (yaan nyo na…wala pa talaga ako sa huwisyo mag blog). I don’t know why I didn’t blog about this. I checked my archives…and this was not documented. Kaya heto…I’m making up for the lost posts LOL. Pagtyagaan nyooo…enjoy!

March 2004, Pico de Loro (Batangas – Cavite)

The jump-off point.

All smiles pa ang mga lowla…

Nag-gagaling-galingan haha

after few hours of long walk…mukhang hinde na sila nag e-enjoy

still managing to keep happy faces

hot and steamy day…the hardest part of the trail…rock climbing at almost 90 degrees..robbie had to drag each one of us hahaha it was fun though

The Parrot’s Beak Basement

It was windy and scary out there…plus medyo slippery pa kaya I was shaking the whole time

Pico de Loro in English….Peak of the Parrot?

With the height of 664 meters above sea level, it is considered the highest mountain in the Cavite province.

Extremely super duper uber tiring day

Pico de Loro offers magnificent views – hills, plateaus, seas, mountain ranges, lakes, cape, peninsula, gulf, valleys etc. hahaha charing lang

I see skies of blue….. clouds of white…bright blessed days….dark sacred nights and I think to myself …..what a wonderful world.

aimz, ruthie, moi and ylla

it was not easy to go back to the camping site, gabi na kase so we decided to sleep kahit saan na lang…o di ba, hinigaan namin ang mge tents…this was the best place available…and it’s not even a flat terrain (elevated by 30 degrees, maybe)…actually konti na lang at tipong we’re hanging off the cliff already haha and ang exciting dun eh….FULL MOON tapos may nag aawoooooooo. Parang horror sya.

Sir Boyet (sweeper)… sleeping on the ground..ang dugyot!!!! hahahha

drinking orange juice in socials night

Good morning sunshine at the summit. What a feeling!

Heading back down the trail

Sarrraaap mag coca cola!

By afternoon, we went to some nice beach in Nasugbu

para mag pa-picture by the sunset

Some food for dinner (hotdog in cream sauce, ampalaya with carrots at ang walang kamatayang sopas a la creme)

feasting at the table

Uber halarious charade, the best socials ever!

You don’t have to shell out big money para mag-enjoy…we did not pay for rooms, entrance lang ang binayaran namin…20P per head.

This is life – lying on the sand, waking up on a beach, listening to the surf, feeling the breeze. The best morning ever!!!

Our destination: Punta Fuego

Boyet, Alma Mae, Wireless, Mervin, Ylla, Me, Amy, Ruthie, Esther, Robbie, Billy and Ken

having fun

and more fun!!!

Total expense for this trip was 1000+ only.

Grabeh how time flies…it’s been 5 years. I no longer have contacts with you. Sana magkita-kita tayo sa finals…I hope you’re all doing well…I love you L2SMOC and I miss you all. Sana maulit ito.

10,000 Years in 10,000 Bhuddas

Waaaaah! We spent 10,000 years in search for the 10,000 Buddhas!!! Grabeh jud.

Ruthie calling Ate Yen, nawawala na kami.

Finally, a nice lady pointed us to this direction. Our great insider from HK (Ate Yen) told us not to take the escalator daw else mapapalayo kami so we decided to take the stairs instead, only to find out na yung stairs and escalator headed to the same floor Hahaha

Nag e-enjoy pa kami nyan. Si She, Ruthie, aiMz and Lizzie

Parang walang hanggang hagdan.

It seems endless.

Spectacular view pero nasan na yung 10K buddhas? Parang we’re on top na and yet we haven’t seen a single buddha yet.

A nice lady told us to go down, then may maliit na eskinita dun daw and papasok sa 10000 buddhas temple.

yehey! Nahanap din sa wakas. Eto yung eskinita.

Grabeh the pagod of my lolas. Eh parang 2 bundok kaya ang inakyat namin noh! Anlayo pa, nakaka 5,498 buddhas pa lang.

5498, 5499, 5500, 5501, 5502

Finally!

Haaay, yan na yun.

The Main Temple and the Pagoda of the Monastery are graded as Grade III Historic Buildings due to their historic significance

Shucks!!! Yung kabayooo!

Andaming gold bars.

Ang founder, the venerable Yuet Kai. He founded the Monastery in 1951. The construction was finished in 1957. Born into a rich family, at the age of 19 he dedicated his life to Buddhism, burning his two smallest fingers on his left hand and cutting a piece of flesh as big as his hand from his chest to light forty-eight oil lamps to show his dedication to Buddhism. He then set out on a life studying Buddhism and helping all in need that he came across.

Looks like a haunted house.

If you noticed, gloomy ang weather. Inabot kami ng 10,000 years kaya inbutan kami ng ulan. Grabe what a stormy rain it was. Basang-basa kami, hulas ang mga byooti! Nevertheless, it was fun. I haven’t seen so many buddhas in my life, dito, magsasawa ka. You’ll be amazed. Grabe the effort they made just to put all those buddhas on top of the hill. If that doesn’t surpise you, nothing will.

To go there: Take the MTR/KCR to the Shatin station, head towards the Park Road. Once you see Ikea, turn left, passing the Shatin City Hall yata yun. If you’re a reklamador and so arte, this is a MUST NOT see sight. But the monastery at the top and the views are breathtaking! If you’re travelling HK for a long period of time, gora kayo dito. It’s worth your time, pramis pa.

Experience Great Adventure with Davao Wild Water Rafting

Do you love thrilling activities that make your adrenaline rush? If you’re an adventurous soul who loves all kinds of adventure, you should try Water Rafting in Davao. I’ve tried it twice already and I love it! There’s also another rafting site in CDO and Tugegarao but I have yet to try them.

Nothing can match the excitement it gives when you paddle hard against the raging rapids. An that up and down roller coaster ride over rocks and boulders, that’s an amazing feeling. Sure bet, you are going to remember it for the rest of your life! It is a lot of fun but it is also scary. It’s an extreme sport that can cause injuries especially when rafting on fast rapids. But don’t worry, Davao Wildwater provides proper safety equipment with an experienced guide who is familiar with the river you are rafting on. Check out their website or call their numbers (+6382) 301-2020, atoy 0920-9546898, poloy 0920-9546897 for more info. Happy paddling!

Jack’s Ridge Davao

I soo love our yaya. She’s an excellent cook. Just after our rafting adventure, she prepared a special dinner for us, here’s her specialty:

Dyaraaan! Kinilaw na tuna with ampalaya. I’m no fan of half-cooked/no-cook meals but this one is uber delicious. We invited some boylets friends to come over, unfortunately, we ended up waiting in vain, walang dumating LOL. It was the perfect time pa naman sana for a heavy drinking session hahaha, so as not to waste any more time just wishing and hoping and waiting, we headed straight to Jack’s Ridge na lang. If ever you visit Davao City, make sure you don’t miss this place. I super love it there. It’s like Tagaytay meets Eastwood.

It’s sitting high up on a hill overlooking the lights of Davao City. The view is to die for, especially at night, I know, hindi ko ma-justify ang statement ko with that picture hahaha….but that place got a spectacular view talaga. And it’s a bit colder there too.

Sarap tuloy mag-emote.

Jack’s Ridge actually got lots of things to offer:

Taklobo Restaurant
Kai’s Bar and Grill
Karlo’s Coffee Station
BMW Piano Bar
Kool Kat’s Pool
Souvenir ship
Cottages
Ampitheater

Here’s the view outside. Sorry for the blurred images, low tech ang camera.

Enjoy the night as you take unlimited pictures with your family and friends LOL

Jack’s Ridge is filled with reminders of its historic past. The land on which it stands was once the headquarter of the Japanese forces during the end of the World War II. Rumor says that hidden somewhere in JR are gold bullions and other treasure that the Japanese had taken from other countries and brought to Davao. Weh? Di nga?

At night, you can use this telescope to see stars, Venus, Vega, Sirius, other planets and constellations…charing lang. This telescope will only allow you to see just a little bit fainter than the naked eye, 10 pesos per 3-5 minutes.

descend this endless stairs to get to Kai’s bar LOL

This lovely coffee shop – Karlo’s Coffee Station – offers free film showing.

Reasonble prices + great atmosphere + great music to serenade you = perfect gimik night

Merry Christmas Parteey With Friends

I know this is super duper late post (blog ko kaya to, hello) Just want to share some pix from our mini xmas parteey

angelofthewaters.com, zitrozil.net and aimzster.page.ph. We watched THE DAY THE WORLD STOOD STILL (Keanu Reeves), not my kind of movie.

We went to Ristorante Bigoli, the perfect place that day since almost all fastfoods and restos in Trinoma were jampacked. Located on the 4th floor, far end of the restaurant row. Free bread sticks (better than fazoli’s).

Delicious yummy….pizza! (what are you looking at lol)

kris kringle na

exchange gift

Aside from our kris kringle, we also prepared separate gifts for each other. Ang gastos grabeh! Thank you Lizz for the wonderful gifts!

super touching at in-effortan mo pa ang pag-caver

at talagang may personal touch

talagang kinareer mo lizzie, thank you

sobrang we don’t want to waste your effort kaya we opened the gift carefully

Dyaraaan! A mini diary with our names on it plus a silver bongganga bonggang bracelet. Loveseeeet!

OMG! Look at the faces, priceless. Sobrang deprived kase kami sa REGALO nun bata kami eh ahahahahha

And these are the gifts from Ruthie…

A white gold (aka silver lol) pendant! Thank you Theng.
