Cafe Maria Jerica, 24×7 Restaurant in Cubao Quezon City

This has got to be my favorite hangout place in my neighborhood Cubao! Sobrang chill ng place and homey. Very very Cubao ang ambiance – busy, accessible, magulo, maingay, vibrant, masaya!

A good place to hang out with your family and friends.

I guess it is what it is – complicated. HAHA

I like it that they have al fresco dining! Iba yun feeling na nag b-burger kayo tapos may dumadaang tricycle. Iba! Heads up, limited parking.

What’s good about this cafe is its AFFORDABILITY and HUGE SERVING.

Nasa Php 110 lang ‘to!

LOL

For 2-3 sharing, only 120. Not bad.

It’s not the best, not that bad either. Sakto lang sa presyo nya.

Php 50 each, Cucumber Lemon. Sulit to!

Pork Tonkatsu, masarap yun sauce! If you’re craving for american, italian and japanese food, this should be your go-to place. Sobrang daming choices ang hirap-hirap umorder!

All for only Php 420!

Affordable, huge serving, free delivery within Cubao area and open 24 hrs! These are the reasons why I loveee Cafe Maria Jerica!

Cafe Maria Jerica is located in 14th Ave, Cubao, Quezon City, just 1 tricyle ride from SM Cubao or AliMall.

Saying Goodbye and Moving On (A Breakup Story)

Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.
– George Bernard Shaw

Major major changes happening very soon! I am finally saying goodbye and breaking up with my dearly beloved most precious neighborhood. We’re moving back to the place of my many happy memories – my hometown far down north…hello again Valenzuela City! I am half-excited, half-heartbroken.

Super excited for these things:

  • Family (all my cousins live there) – it means more family reunions, kwentuhans.
  • Lower cost – roughly 30% cheaper
  • New house – anything new excites me!

Super heartbroken for these reasons:

  • Giving up the convenience – access to Edsa, Araneta, Farmers, Ali Mall, Bus Terminal, Estwood, Ortigas etc.
  • Neighborhood – it’s nice and quiet where we live.
  • It’s Cubao! Eto yata ang totoong Central Luzon. Haha. It has access to all points of Luzon!
  • Camp Crame – anybody who lives nearby can get inside to jog, bike etc.
  • 100% flood free. Moving to Valenzuela means I have to go through deep floods despite having light rain only.
  • Garbage truck every Monday and Wednesday. Free.
  • Mang Joey’s and Jerica
  • My favorite Hypermarket in Main Ave. Edsa – deserves to be singled out because honestly, it’s the best Hypermarket ever!

Turns out I have more things to be heartbroken for than to be happy, but it’s alright.

We have not started packing yet. It’s only me and my sister sharing the house but our stuff when combined, it looks like it’s for a family of 12. Maybe even more than that. Help!!!

My biggest and major worry you know what..it’s the travel time I need to take when going to Makati. That’s a total of 6-8hrs, back and forth, on a regular sunny day. When it rains, even with the slightest drizzle, it extends to 10hrs or longer.

Ciao, Cubao! Thank you for the many happy years! Thank you also to Bongato family. We’ll never forget your kindness.

Kita Kita Movie Review (Spoiler Alert, Bahala Kayo)

I know I said I won’t watch it but I did. Napilitan, ok. I kinda knew what’s gonna happen already – may nabasa ako’ng Kita Kita Spoiler at napaka-accurate nya. Anyway, I won’t encourage you to read this post if you haven’t watched the film yet. Pero kung gusto nyo masirsa araw nyo, sit down and join me as a I dissect the movie one by one. FYI, walang kwenta ‘tong review na ‘to.

Do I like it? Yes-No, for many reasons.

Do I like the ending? No!!! Nakakabanas!

Yes! Maganda ang cinematography. Panoorin nyo! It’s now, it’s never! Nothing beats the cinema experience no matter how big your TV is.

Uulitin ko ba’ng panoorin? Yes! Kung libre. Yun last part, it’s something I would watch again and again and again on youtube.

Sa’ng part ako naiyak? Nun kinanta ni KZ Tandingan yun 2 Less Lonely sabay flashback. Nakakadala. Ugh. Actually, naiyak yun isang mata ko.  Ewan kung bakit 50% lang ang niluha ko.

Sa’ng part ako natuwa? Kay Empoy! Personality beats looks everytime.

I love love love this part!

Favorite scene? Yun part na yan. Very poignant. Tsaka yun kiss!

Moral of the story?

Walang backstory.

Ano’ng part yun hindi ko na-appreciate? Nun halos sirain ni Empoy yun buhay nya kasi nag-break sila nun ex-gf nya. Seriously? Who would do that?

May dala kasi syang laptop bag.

Yun girl, mababaldado. Gusto ko buhayin si Empoy, and they will live happily ever after. Ganon! Pero!

Yun aksidente, it could have been avoided. Paano nga pala sya nagka work permit, is he fit to work?

Recipe for the success of this movie – awesome film location + familiar soundtrack + funny and relatable characters. All in all, maganda yun movie. Cliche but fresh. Simple but complicated. Ordinary but distinctive. Prepare to be LSSed.

Where To Buy Wiggie’s Ice Cream in Metro Manila?

Wiggie’s Gabi – Keso Ice Cream

This gabi – keso ice cream is truly phenomenal! I love everything about it! Just the right amount of sweetness, very creamy (they use coconut milk as well) with real fruits! It tastes so soooo good! Hindi lasang artificial. You can very well distinguish the flavor.

Wiggie's Ice Cream with Styrofoam Bucket

It comes with its own styrofoam bucket with  crashed ice so it can stay frozen for up to 8hrs. How wonderful di ba? No worries bringing it anywhere you go. Bakit hindi naisip ng Magnolia yan? Thumbs up for the very  simple idea but makes a lot of sense!

Another local ice cream company that I like a lot is Nathaniel’s. Gaaahhhhd! I’m not an ice cream person but these 2 brands are turning me to become one.

Too bad Wiggie’s ice cream is not commercially available in groceries. Why it isn’t available in Metro Manila? Please comment if you know any local store where I can get this Wiggie’s ice cream. Can’t wait to try their other flavors – Ube, Langka, Durian, Mais etc.

Youtube Feature: Chivalry Is Dead – Trevor Wesley (KAYE CAL Acoustic Cover)

Chivalry Is Dead – Trevor Wesley (KAYE CAL Acoustic Cover)

One of my favorite youtube singers – Kaye Cal! Oh my! I love this version. Repeat 100X! I’m jealous! I wish I can play the guitar like this. Maybe if I practice harder, I’ll get better too, anyway it’s in our blood! My father and all my siblings knows how to play the guitar very well. They’re so good esp. our oldest brother and youngest sister – they know how to play by ear! While me? I’m tone deaf, and knows only the basic like D-A-G-A chords and nothing else. Their forte is acoustic, haven’t seen them play electric guitar, not even once. I wonder how Inday (our youngest) is gonna react if I buy her an esp ltd at guitarcenter.com? Good idea! It’s not her style but I guess she’s gonna like it.

Birthday Post for My Sister

Dear Inday,

Happy birthday dearest baby sister! I can’t believe you’re now 15 years old, how time flies! I am both happy and sad for the person that you’ve become. Sad because you’ve grown so fast! You’re no longer able to be that cute kid who’s always brought laughter and happiness to us all. I wish you’d never grown up, Inday. I wish you’re not hardheaded and you’ll always listen to mother when she asks you to do this and that.

I am happy to see you growing up strong, street smart and talented. I admire your willingness to learn new things. Amazing to see how you’ve taken so much after our father! I know how much you like getting a new guitar, there’s a beginner guitar available at Musicians Friend, I’ll see if I can get one for you.

I wish you a good life ahead, Inday. I love you always! My only request is for you to honor mother for as long as you live.

Lovelots,

T’malen
