Several years back, I was bored and broken so I decided to try something different that will make me busy. I went to a bead store in Manila and bought some crystals, wooden beads and beading materials.
I stayed up the whole night and came up with several pieces of lovely designs.
I fell in love with my new hobby. My cousins and friends in the office became the first patronizers of my products. I got a phone call from an old friend I met in the youth org who owned a consignment store, she asked me if I’m interested to bring a display of different earrings to her store. She took them on consignment at 60/40. Not bad. I was earning from doing some thing that I love.
Then I started to accept customized jewelries. An old classmate asked me to make her wedding cord, and another friend asked me if I can make wedding tiaras. I was so overwhelmed! Soon, my hobby turned into a second job, providing a decent amount of income.
Business-wise, I still have a lot to learn. My next goal is to study advance jewelry making, get an inventory software, accept more consignments and put up an online store. Wish me luck.
